Textured Tuesday: Subtle Gold

The colors of winter are subtle.
What often appear to be flat grays
are usually subtle turnings of gold, red,
and purple, each leaning on the other
to provide richness and depth
to an often bleak season.
Here the remaining leaves on
a neighborhood tree stand poised
against a backdrop
of greenish-yellow lichen.
