Snowy Grasses

At their full growth, these ornamental grasses are tall,
topped by feathery plumes of seeds.
Now only about a foot tall, they catch the snow and leaves
as they wait for spring and new growth.

Grasses, Shorn

The ornamental grasses, whose green strands

December Theme Day: Looking Out

While working and swimming, the days have passed fairly quickly,
so much so that I nearly overlooked the "looking out"
theme for December 1st. I guess though, in my attempt to miss nothing,
I spend a lot of time looking out for stuff, including
these back-lit grasses and flower stalks.

Photographers from the world over have posted
their contributions for today's theme at the City Daily Photo portal.

or the CDP badge on the right-hand side of this page.

Autumn Equinox

I like ornamental grasses. During the spring and summer
they create a nice, natural fence. On rainy days
the rain hangs like baubles from the slender leaves.
Now that the summer has ended, the grasses
curl in sinuous spirals, like long hair
gone all frizzy with the humidity.
