Street Art: Too Blue

This time, it must have been the water utility guys,
marking their lines along the Speedway streets.
A few feet away, traces of a spot where the blue paint
was spilled marks the intersection.

And this should be imprinted on all
of our minds by now, and we should make
certain it is the last time it happens.

Street Art

Beauty appears in the oddest places;
from puffy clouds in the sky, to flowers in garden beds,
then to a storm's detritus in cracks in the parking lot.
Both the street pavers and the forces of Mother Nature
collaborated to create some beautiful abstract art.
The earth has heaved over the winters to make cracks
in the pavement, which are then filled with
chips of yellow paint from the surrounding curbs.
Swashes of slurry seal add contrast to the
nubby surface of the asphalt.

Zig-Zag

While sitting in a corner coffee shop near the Circle,
I noticed a zig-zag pattern just outside the window.
The rain-slick street brought out reflections
from running lights on cars, as well as accentuating
the dashed pattern of the cross walk markings.

More than a few Zig-Zags have
been passed over the decades and these
men remain as excellent as ever.

White Line Here

Solid white line should look like above sample,
as indicated by arrow,
not the sample below, which does not meet
solid line standards.
Future indiscretions with the paint truck
will be regarded with ridicule, assuming driver
always dribbles before he shoots.

Somebody Dribbled ...

For blocks and blocks and blocks
a stream of white paint trailed along the street,
marking the path taken by the truck
that made it. A couple blocks farther on.
the straight cuts made by a concrete
saw contrasted with the strokes
of slurry used to seal the asphalt
pavement a couple seasons earlier.
