Lavender Moon

Just before the sun went down Monday night,
 the sky was almost turquoise.
The breeze had pushed out most of the cloud cover,
giving us chiffon clouds.
The sun turned them pink, orange and lavender --
a wispy gown blown in the night air.
And, to the south, a half moon shown
like a pearl button, half undone.
