White on White

The snow fell all day, beginning in the morning in big,
sloppy globs, then falling straight down in a shower
of fine flakes. Frequently, the snow dropped off
the trees onto my face as I looked upward .
Pale gray, almost white, the snow clung
to dark brown branches, looking like
a lovely ink drawing, creating a delicate balance
against the sky, the snow, and the branches,

This beauty is deceptive.
Now, we are waiting for the freezing
temperatures that will turn the lovely globs
into weapons whose weight may cause power lines
to break, leaving a great many people
without electricity. The wind chill is expected
to reach -40 degrees over the next two days.
I guess I won't be swimming
much this week. :-b

We have more of the same today, the city is shut down again. Keep warm, Speedway.

Hello, 22bbetc. Our city, while shut down, is trying to work its way to its normal routine. We don't really need a bunch of idiot drivers on the roads at all, though. Neither do we need our idiot state legislature, but they will somehow manage to open their 2014 session, screwing up the lives of their constituents with special interest rulings that defy logic.

Beautiful, but that storm was a vicious one.
