One Slog Forward, Two Slips Back

Thursday afternoon, I walked to the store
to get a few provisions before another snowstorm
arrived. I saw these icicles hanging from a tree
in a nearby churchyard. I didn't know
that icicles could be, of all things, windblown,
but I can't otherwise account for the
unusual angles of this tree's icy foliage.

A fine snow has been falling steadily
for the past four hours. Right now, it looks
to be about an additional four inches of snowfall,
on top of the snows from the past weeks.
Damn. I expect to go to hear the Indianapolis
Symphony Orchestra later Friday evening.

I hope you got to go!

The infinite variety of shapes ice can make always amazes me.

We ended up with 6-8 inches of snow last night, a far cry from the 1-2 inches that was forecast for the area.

I did go to the concert last night, a Valentine's Day program made up of romantic standards. It had a so-so singer singing a few pop tunes and a meh harmonica player performing "Moon River."

I'd intended to go swimming this morning but my feet were still cold from waiting for the bus last night, my boots were still wet, and I didn't get home until after midnight. I stayed home.
