I got lucky, Dive. I wanted pictures of the finches and berries, but the good/usable ones all came out backlit to the extreme -- and to my advantage.
Like me, I assume you're watching the Singapore GP. I love F1 starts. One year, here at Indy, I went out of my way to get a ticket near the S/F line so I could see the start. I didn't bargain for a group of the most rude and noisy fans (from Brazil) EVER! If I'd behaved like that in their country, I'd have been an "ugly American." I couldn't see anything because they were not only standing on the seats, but balancing each other to perch on the seat backs. I didn't get to see the start at all. Another couple and I then left to go sit in the turns, in the rain, to watch the race. While overall the crowd that came was better-educated, financially well off, the groups (Tiffosi) of people were ass holes, the eqiuvalent of our worst NASCAR people. A lot of Indy was not sad to see Bernie go and rob another city of their money.
Yup, Ecclestone has done more to spoil Grand Prix racing for the fans than any other factor in its history. What an asshat that man is. Bummer that you missed the start at Indy. As for Singapore? Meh … It's another one of the too many bad circuits Ecclestone forced into the sport for profit. The last one at Monza - now THAT's my kind of circuit! And we've got Japan coming up. Suzuka is a classic; a glorious racetrack. So it's not all bad. The sooner Ecclestone succumbs to the rigours of time the better for all race fans.
I remember bumping into him years ago at the Detroit GP. I was in the pits, taking pictures for UPI. I knew who he was, but dismissed him as having a serious case of "short man syndrome" as he only came up to about boob height to me. I just immediately felt uncomfortable around him. I will send you a link to than monstrosity of a house he bought for his daughter.
Naw, Dive, it was more like, if I hadn't stopped short when I did, I'd have put out one of his eyes with a prominent part of my anatomy. I'm just average tall for a woman, nothing Amazon. I think his having to explain that the rest of his life would have been embarrassing.

I think Bernie is negotiating with God for a rules change on that pesky death thing.
