From the Coffee Shop

Wednesday afternoon, I was sitting in a coffee shop on the Circle,
watching as people finally were able to go around town
without looking as though they were in a broiler.
I was nibbling on a snickerdoodle, waiting for my latte
to cool, contemplating what my next writing project might be.
I've got a good idea, but it will be involved.

I'd never written a book before and the one I just finished
would be a chapter in length compared to what
I have in mind; I was surprised at how much work and
commitment it required and now I wanna do the
research and prepare a larger one.
Uh-oh.

Yay! I just pre-ordered your sternwheeler book from the Amazonians. I can't wait!
And what in the world is a snickerdoodle?

Thank you, Dive! It's a complete surprise to me to see myself among all the listings I've ordered from over the years. Please, be aware it's no doctoral thesis or 'Ulysses,' just a simple little book with a rather long bibliography (unless that is cut, too).

As for snickerdoodles, they're basically as sugar cookie with a cinnamon-sugar topping.

In keeping with Petrea's Camelot theme, here's a recipe from King Arthur flour:

So much to say... those are fabulous lamp posts! A book! I have been away too long (working) but I will check it out on your previous posts (and Amazon) - wow!

Snickerdoodles are absolutely FINE! I have not made any in quite some time, but they are the best, Dive!

Bises,
Genie

Oh, thank you, Genie. I'm trying to sort out all the pictures for the book, get the captions written. Oh ... I thought the words would just, you know, flow from my fingers the way they do from my mind. any they don't. It's actual effing work.

If I screw this up, I'll have screwed up the best opportunity ever - good publisher, good distributor. I'm just not used to good things happening.

I need another million or so snickerdoodles and another not-too-hot-to-drink latte.

Thank you, Genie. And have you been back to Paris to take pictures? Or will that happen in a few weeks?
