I can't say whether people are suffering with flu or overcome
by boredom. Here is downtown Indy at about 5 p.m.
Wednesday afternoon, gray and bleak - and that's the people!
The day started with temperatures in the mid-50s
and a few patches of sun. Over the afternoon, the weather
became colder, complete with the depressing drizzle
you can see above.
The woman in the green coat has just arrived at the bus stop
after a hard day fielding calls made to the mayor's office
by disgruntled citizens. She's tired.
It's my friend Joyce, with whom I've commuted
on the bus for nearly 15 years. She always has an
interesting story to tell. Riding home in the evenings means
she gets to be with her daughter and friends -
a bit of peace at the end of a stressful day.
The monthly theme for City Daily Photo participants is Umbrellas.
To see their interpretations, click on the link just above.
Take a tour of the pictures, and explore the world through the
eyes of people who live in the many cities represented.
And, like Joyce, may a smile be your umbrella.
I couldn't pass up the chance to use that.*Snicker*

If it were not for the buildings and Joyce's lovely smile I'd think you'd sneaked over here to England, Speedway.
Hey, we're dur more snow tonight; I'm as happy as the guy in the second photo.
Love the angle of the first shot!
your friend joyce has a beautiful smile!
Joyce is a day brightener. Our winter is beginning to feel like the guy in the second shot looks. But we can't complain in the Pacific Northwest. At least we don't have snow.
Yes! Love the angle of the first shot...your friend's smile...and the disgruntled guy who forgot his umbrella!!!
Great post..
Happy Theme Day :)
These people have really big umbrellas! Love it!
Cities don't like rain. Take these folks out to open spaces and I'm sure they'll be smiling. Great set of photos for the theme day!
I love how you have told a story with both your photos and your words. It is true that many faces reflect the weather, and how great to have a friend like Joyce to keep it in perspective.
