Waiting

While waiting for the bus this evening
outside the Madame Walker Theatre, I took
the opportunity to take a picture of the red rectangles
painted on a nearby garage. Of course, the wall
reminds me of big abstract paintings,
but the name of the artist eludes me right now.

Yay for the Rothko Garage!

I love that cute little kiosk at the theatre.

Thanks, Dive, of course ... Mark Rothko. There are even a lot of images on-line of Rothko's red/red and red/black paintings.

The kiosk above is at the Walker Theatre, whose sign is shown in Friday's post. The man in the picture has offered to show me the inside of the building and I plan to take him up on it. The exterior and interior decorations were done by our old friend, Alexander Sangernabo. Among the items inside are an old piano that was played by Cab Calloway and Duke Ellington.
