Warning: Helicopter and Plane

There's no accounting for the local vernacular
used to identify many items.
The green seed pods are known as "helicopters"
because of the whirling paths they take
as they fall  to the ground from the maple trees,
while Dive of Small Glass Planet has told me
that in England, the tree they call a Plane,
we know as the American Sycamore.

Hee hee hee.

I must confess I love a warning sign that doesn't tell you what it's warning you about. Awesome!

The "helicopters" are crash landing now, all over the area, looking, sadly, like Hueys that've been shot down as they plummet to the ground.
