A Crispy Tan

It seems as though most of the flowers have withered
away in the heat. The only thing thriving
are the weeds, which have deeper root systems than
any "normal" plant; they are the only vegetation
that seems to have been growing tall and proud in the
heat that the Midwest has endured these past weeks.

Just to have a spot of color,
here is a shot from over a month ago,
when things came in colors other than
"parched" or "sere."
