Winter Skies

Winter is a time for introspection and introversion,
time to hibernate, to restore and renew our spirits.
The cold can bring isolation and intimacy, both of which
we can use to build the strength needed to face the
complications of daily life.

I need to remind myself every winter that the season
has its own colors, subdued and subtle; back to basics.
The earth lies fallow, preparing itself for rebirth
in the spring, and so do we.

Just as you caught the beauty in the muted colours of Autumn in contrast to the garish glory of the maples, you've captured winter's beauty perfectly.
The grey-brown seeds against the soft greens of the trunk and those lovely hanging water droplets. Simply gorgeous.

As of course is Emmylou Harris. I've had an ache for her since I was old enough to have aches.
Sigh …

Thank you, Dive. Somewhere during my snowy walk my little camera's batteries died, so I was fortunate to get a few pictures to use, this among them.

Emmylou Harris sings about aching in a way that describes my own aches for loves, lost or even just longed for.
